Salesian 52, Bell-Jeff 0--The host Guards (2-5, 3-1) seemingly could not wait for their Santa Fe League game at Burroughs High to end.

Coach Ken Berry asked that a running clock be used for the second half after Bell-Jeff allowed 35 second-quarter points.

The Guards yielded only 222 yards, holding the Mustangs (5-2, 3-1) to one completed pass for 34 yards in six attempts.

However, Salesian’s defense returned two interceptions and one fumble for touchdowns. Additionally, Kevin Rivas had a 19-yard punt return for a touchdown.

The Guards’ longest play was a 20-yard pass from Daniel Aguirre to Fadel Abdullhai on a fake punt.

Edward Chaidez, who came into the game with 889 rushing yards for Bell-Jeff, was held to 11 yards in 18 carries.

Bell-Jeff’s Jason Fernandez completed one of four passes for 13 yards with one interception, which Mauricio Lemus returned 67 yards for a touchdown. Jerry Torres opened the scoring with an 18-yard interception return.
