Whitworth’s Goal, Assist Key Irvine Valley Soccer Victory

Chris Whitworth and Otto Rodriguez scored to give Irvine Valley a 2-0 men’s soccer victory over Glendale in the opener for both teams Tuesday at Irvine Valley.

Whitworth also assisted on the second goal. Miljan Soskic had five saves for the winners.

In other nonconference men’s soccer:

Fullerton 1, L.A. Harbor 1--Kelechi Abonami scored the Hornets’ goal at Fullerton College.

It was the opener for both teams.

In women’s soccer:

Orange Coast 2, Mt. San Antonio 2--Taylor Yurada scored twice for OCC, which won its opener. Erin Bergman and Mary Peters assisted on the goals.

Santa Ana 1, San Diego Mesa 1--Carrie Steinmeyer scored for the Dons, off an assist by Marilu Veliz. Carolina Arroyo had 13 saves for Santa Ana.
