Santiago and La Verne Bonita, the two finalists in last season’s Tournament of Champions, had their ranks severely depleted by graduation. Defending champion Santiago lost nine senior starters and Bonita lost 10. . . . Santiago’s second-year Coach Angie Eifert considers this a rebuilding year. . . . Edison is the favorite to win the Sunset League and the TOC. . . . Newport Harbor may also challenge for a top spot, but will miss senior goalkeeper Erin Kennedy, who has left the team to concentrate on water polo.
