Dump Truck Flips, Stops Freeway Traffic
Traffic on the Ventura Freeway backed up for several miles Monday afternoon after a dump truck overturned, spilling sand over the road’s three lanes.
The truck overturned after its driver, Arturo Varragan, 27, of Oxnard swerved to avoid another vehicle on the northbound 101 about a mile south of the Seaward Avenue exit, California Highway Patrol Officer Rex Mohun said.
Varragan sustained minor cuts on his left arm and was treated at the scene. The rented truck leaked a small amount of hydraulic fluid.
