3 Boys Charged in Sexual Assault of 3-Year-Old Girl

Three boys have been charged in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a 3-year-old girl. Police say evidence shows that the boys--ages 8, 11 and 12--probably did not go beyond touching the girl, who was found undressed and lying on the ground of an abandoned house.

The 12-year-old boy was in Juvenile Hall after Tuesday night’s alleged assault, police said. The other two boys were released to the custody of their parents or guardians.

Police spokesman Arturo Bautista said police had received results from medical testing, although the findings were not released.

Two women heard screams about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, which led them to an abandoned house in East Oakland, where they found the girl.

The boys allegedly performed simulated sex acts on the girl, Bautista said. They were startled by the screams and backed off just before the neighbors arrived.
