Paraclete 20, Tehachapi 17--Using a punt return, an official’s time call and a fumbled fair catch, Paraclete (3-0) overcame a sputtering offense at Antelpoe Valley College.
Paraclete’s winning score came early in the third quarter. After being stopped on their first possession, the Spirits recovered a fumbled punt at the Warrior 15.
Tommy Breech caught a 15-yard touchdown pass from Rob Fockaert moments later. Fockaert completed four of 13 for 112 yards before being sidelined early in the fourth quarter because of an ankle injury.
Tehachapi (2-1) scored with four seconds left in the second quarter to take a 17-7 lead. After the kickoff return, the clock showed no time. Officials signaled, however, there was one play left. Breech made the most of the extra play, hauling in Fockaert’s desperation pass and scoring on a 64-yard play to bring the Spirits within 17-14 at halftime.
