Santa Ana Breaks 30-Game Losing Streak With Rout

Junior tailback Tony Jones scored five touchdowns as Santa Ana (1-2) beat Bolsa Grande, 48-14, to snap a 30-game losing streak Saturday at Bolsa Grande High.
Reynaldo Flores scored two touchdowns and had an interception for the Saints, whose last victory came against Long Beach Millikan, 32-20, in the second week of the 1995 season.
Doug Baughman completed 16 of 30 passes for 247 yards to lead Bolsa Grande (0-3).
In other nonleague games:
Los Angeles Baptist 34, Brethren Christian 12--Scott Swenson completed 11 of 17 passes for 241 yards and scored a touchdown to lead Los Angeles Baptist (2-1).
Ellis Garrett scored three touchdowns for the Knights, the second coming on a 72-yard pass from Swenson in the second quarter. Garrett gained 122 yards in three carries.
Matt Polley scored for Brethren Christian (2-1) in the third quarter on a 35-yard pass from Kyle Painter. Josh Harmon added another touchdown 30 seconds later.
Newport Harbor 34, National City Sweetwater 2--Oscar Garcia scored two touchdowns for Newport Harbor (3-0), which scored 26 points in the second quarter.
Lamar Lee had two interceptions for the Sailors, one that he returned 27 yards for a touchdown in the second quarter.
Newport Harbor’s Steve Gorman completed nine of 16 passes for 104 yards. Ruben Mendoza completed 13 of 28 for 144 yards to lead Sweetwater (2-1).
Chula Vista Midway Baptist 8, St. Margaret’s 6--David Smith had 146 yards in 30 carries to lead the offense for visiting Midway Baptist. Alex Perin scored a first-quarter touchdown to give St. Margaret’s (0-3) the lead, its first this season.
In an eight-man game:
Wildomar California Lutheran 64, Liberty Christian 14--Derrick Droback rushed for 73 yards and four touchdowns in 12 carries for California Lutheran (2-1, 1-0) in an Express League game.
Mike Spagnola rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns in 15 carries for Liberty Christian (2-1, 0-1).
