PUC Approves 2 Area Code Overlay Plans
The California Public Utilities Commission on Thursday approved plans to add new area codes to the regions served by area code 415 in San Francisco and Marin counties and area code 510 in the Oakland area. In both cases, a second area code will be added to cover new numbers in the existing regions, in what is known as an overlay plan. Residents and businesses can keep their current code and numbers.
