Turner Finishes the Job Again for Ventura, 6-3
David Turner pitched his third complete game, allowing seven hits while striking out seven and walking two for Ventura College in a 6-3 victory over Canyons in a Western State Conference interdivision baseball game Tuesday at Canyons.
Turner (9-4), a sophomore right-hander from Agoura High, is one victory from reaching second place on Ventura’s single-season list. Brandon Knight, a pitcher in the Texas Rangers’ organization, had 15 victories in 1995.
Turner, who allowed two solo home runs, needed only 104 pitches to give Ventura (17-12, 7-6 in WSC play) its fourth consecutive conference victory.
Aaron Dixon hit a three-run home run for Ventura in the sixth, Matt Alonzo hit a two-run shot in the fourth and Nick Gontmaher homered in the third.
Canyons is 14-21, 6-7.

Pierce 12, Oxnard 2--Josh Miranda had three hits, two runs batted in and scored three runs for the Brahmas in a WSC interdivision game at Pierce.
Merrill Dunn (3-1) of Pierce (18-8, 8-4) gave up six hits and one earned run in eight innings. He struck out three and walked one.
Valley 11, Santa Barbara 7--Sigi Arroyo had three hits and three RBIs, and Paul Ramirez had two hits, including a three-run home run in the sixth that helped the Monarchs pull away in a WSC Southern Division game at Santa Barbara (5-26, 2-12).
Nick Lombard had two hits and two RBIs for Valley (10-20, 4-9).
MEN’S TENNIS
Glendale 8, Pierce 1--The Vaqueros (13-1, 9-0) won all six singles matches at Pierce en route to clinching the WSC championship, its first conference title since 1975.
John Reading defeated Milos Budisavljevic, 6-3, 7-6 (8-6), at No. 1 singles and Andy Roland beat Sonny Warda, 6-3, 6-1, in the No. 2 match.
Pierce (5-6, 5-5) played its first match without No. 1 player Joey Schimmel, who quit the team last week because of personal reasons, Coach Paul Xanthos said.
SOFTBALL
Canyons 4, Glendale 0--Kelly Presten pitched a no-hitter, struck out one, walked two and hit a batter in a WSC Southern Division game at Canyons.
Chantal Pershing had three hits and two RBIs for the Cougars (22-11-1, 8-3), who won their sixth game in a row.
Moorpark 10, Santa Barbara 8--Delaina Talili doubled and tripled for the Raiders (25-8, 10-2) in a WSC Northern Division victory at Santa Barbara.
