Taillon Homer Gives Westlake a Big Lift, 10-9

Cory Taillon hit a three-run home run with one out in the fifth inning to give Westlake High a 10-9 Marmonte League baseball victory over Royal on Wednesday at Westlake High.

Westlake (13-4-1, 5-3) scored five runs on eight consecutive hits in the third inning to take a 7-1 lead that Royal (13-4-1, 6-2) erased with four runs in the fourth and four more in the fifth.

Jesse Kozlowski (3-3), the Warriors’ third pitcher, gave up two earned runs in three innings, striking out two and walking one.

Taillon finished with two hits and three runs batted in for Westlake.

Tyler Adamczyk added three hits, including a homer, and three RBIs, and Garett Michaels had three hits and an RBI.

Casey O’Quinn and Daniel Woolever each had three hits for Royal.

Moorpark 6, Simi Valley 1--Wes Rasmussen hit a home run in the first inning and a two-run shot in the second inning for the Musketeers in a Marmonte League victory at Simi Valley.

Brendan Weak had four hits, including a double and a home run, for Moorpark (11-9, 3-4).

Thousand Oaks 16, Agoura 7--Ryan Fitzgerald had four RBIs for the Lancers in a Marmonte League victory at Agoura.

John Smith hit a double and a two-run home run for Thousand Oaks (14-5, 6-2).

Agoura (7-11-1, 1-7) hit five home runs in the game.

Michael Falco, who has had four multiple home run games in 10 days, hit his 12th and 13th of the season and Nick Hillman also hit two homers for the Lancers.

Highland 8, Quartz Hill 5--Rob Cowan hit a tie-breaking home run in the sixth inning and the Bulldogs (13-6, 7-2) added two unearned runs in the seventh to win a Golden League game at Quartz Hill.

Ryan Ingram’s two-run single in the fifth inning highlighted a four-run rally for Quartz Hill (6-13, 4-6), which tied the score, 5-5.

Palmdale 13, Antelope Valley 3--Chris Testa, Matt Plante and Rick Orozco each had three hits for the Falcons (14-5, 8-1) in a Golden League game at Palmdale that was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Testa, who hit his 11th home run, and Plante each drove in four runs.

Lancaster 10, Littlerock 0--Johnny Brown hit a two-run home run and Steve Payte struck out seven and allowed two hits to help the Eagles win a Golden League game stopped after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Mike Hewson had two hits and three RBIs, raising his season average to .565 for the Eagles (12-6, 7-3).

St. Bonaventure 2, Fillmore 1--Jeff Springgate tripled in the sixth inning and scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly by Gilbert Infante in a Tri-Valley League game at St. Bonaventure.

Zach Gallagher (4-2) pitched a six-hitter, striking out four, in his fourth complete game of the season for St. Bonaventure (7-9, 3-4).
