It’s Acey-Deucey at Studio City

Zack Fisher, a junior at Notre Dame High, lives near Studio City Golf and Tennis and plays the par-three course at least once a month during the summer.

He had never been close to a hole in one, until Thursday, when his shot with an eight iron bounced twice and dropped into the cup on the 105-yard sixth hole.

“It was a back pin so it was probably about 110 yards,” said Fisher, who was playing the course with David Behboudi, a junior at Grant. “It felt good when I hit it, a little left to right, and landed it on the green and just disappeared.

“The marshal [Bob Smothers] was right there and heard us yelling. We ran to the hole and the ball was in there. I was in a state of shock.”

They left the ball in the hole and returned to the tee because Behboudi still had to hit.

Smothers and Fisher watched as Behboudi hit his shot with a nine iron.

“It was straight as an arrow,” Fisher said. “After he hit it and the ball was in the air, I said, ‘Good shot. It looks like we have two holes in one.’ It bounced once and went in.

“[David] thought he hit the ball over the green but I was screaming that it went in so we ran to the green again and there were two balls in the hole. The marshal just shook his head and said he had never seen that before.”

Neither had anybody else at Studio City Golf and Tennis, according to General Manager George McCallister.

“We get about one [hole in one a week], but never anything like this,” McCallister said. “I’ve heard about it happening before but not here. The odds have to be about a zillion to one.”
