Galaxy goalkeeper Kevin Hartman and defender Greg Vanney were two of 18 players named by Coach Bruce Arena to the U.S. national team that will play Jamaica in Kingston on Sept. 8.

Arena is taking a young team on the trip. Fifteen of the 18 have played fewer than eight national team games and four are being called up from the U.S. under-23 team preparing for the Sydney 2000 Olympics.

Coach Tony DiCicco selected 16 of the 20 players from his 1999 Women’s World Cup-winning team for Saturday’s game against Ireland at Foxboro, Mass. The only four world champions missing from the roster will be Michelle Akers, Brandi Chastain, Lorrie Fair and Briana Scurry. The game will be the first for the U.S. since its World Cup victory at the Rose Bowl on July 11.
