Hauser Leads North Hollywood

Ken Hauser had 16 points and 10 rebounds, and North Hollywood High beat Littlerock, 68-48, in the quarterfinals of the Simi Valley tournament at Simi Valley High on Wednesday.

The Huskies (2-0), ranked No. 9 in the region by The Times, took a 20-9 lead in the first quarter. Nathan Stern also had 16 points for North Hollywood.

Gene Myvett scored 27 points for No. 8-ranked Littlerock (2-1).

In other Simi Valley tournament games:

Simi Valley 94, Granada Hills 73--Brett Michel scored 39 points and made seven of 11 three-point shots for the Pioneers (2-0) in the quarterfinal game.

Michel was held to two points in the first quarter, but scored 14 in the second and 16 in the third.

Branduinn Fullove scored 23 points and made 10 of 14 shots for Simi Valley, the No. 1-ranked team in the region by The Times.

Point guard Shaun Michel, Brett’s brother, did not play for the second game because of disciplinary reasons.

Taft 57, Reseda 45--Steve Smith scored nine of his 13 points in the third quarter and the Toreadors (1-1) won a consolation game at Camarillo High.

In the Saugus tournament:

Oxnard 77, Highland 62--Eric Webb scored 20 points in his varsity debut to help the Yellowjackets to victory in a first-round game.

Nicholas Curtis had 11 points and 12 rebounds and Ricky Hernandez scored 18 for Oxnard, the third-ranked team in the region by The Times.

Alemany 73, Royal 68--The Indians pulled away from a tie at the half by outscoring the Highlanders, 24-12, in the third quarter of a first-round game.

Reny Maynard scored 13 of his 31 points in the first quarter for Alemany (2-0). Adam Segal had 23 points and David Simonton 18 for Royal.

Westlake 66, Quartz Hill 56--Tyler Adamczyk had 22 points and nine rebounds for the Warriors. He made nine of 13 field-goal attempts.

In the Burbank-Hoover tournament:

Crescenta Valley 50, Glendale 48--James Jenkins had 29 points, 15 rebounds and five blocked shots, and the Falcons won in the first round at Burbank High.

Glendale’s Gilbert Yousefian scored 19 of his 21 points in the second half.

Burroughs 80, Belmont 60--Senior forward Boyan Dimitrov scored 29 points for Burroughs (1-0) and senior center Tyler Newton scored 20 at Hoover.

Thousand Oaks 64, Peninsula 50--Tim Chevalier scored 23 points, David Anderson added 17 with six assists and the Lancers (1-0) won in the first round of the Loyola tournament.

GIRLS’ GAMES

Royal 59, Diamond Ranch 32--Kristen Galbreath had 14 points and seven rebounds for Royal (2-0) in Monrovia tournament pool play.

November Woddard-Parker had 12 points, five rebounds, three steals and five assists for Royal. Leticia Saldain had four steals for the Highlanders.

North Hollywood 49, Bell-Jeff 36--The Huskies rallied from a nine-point halftime deficit to record a victory in a Crescenta Valley tournament pool-play game.

Kaipresha Price scored 21 points and Richelle Sherman had 18 points and 18 rebounds for North Hollywood (1-0).

Oxnard 51, Edison 50--Tiffany Walker’s 10-foot jumper in the lane with 1:20 remaining in the second overtime was the difference for the Yellowjackets in a Woodbridge tournament pool-play game.

Marymount 55, Montclair Prep 47--Freshman Eshaya Murphy had 23 points and 13 rebounds for the Mounties (0-1) in a first-round Buckley tournament game.

Lancaster 55, Paraclete 52--De Anna Butler scored 10 of her 18 points in the fourth quarter for Lancaster (1-0) in a first-round Rancho Grande tournament game.

Quartz Hill 79, San Bernardino 53--Sisters McKena and Lannette Richardson combined for 52 points for the Rebels (2-0) in a San Bernardino tournament quarterfinal.
