Carson-Dorsey Pairing Heads City Games

Top-seeded Carson (10-2) plays fifth-seeded Dorsey (10-2) at Gardena, and third-seeded Crenshaw (10-2) plays sixth-seeded San Pedro (10-2) at Fremont in City Section football semifinals Friday night.

Both games begin at 7 p.m.

Southern Section semifinals in 13 divisions will be played Friday and Saturday.

Long Beach Poly (12-0) plays Los Alamitos (11-1) at Veterans Stadium and Santa Ana Mater Dei (10-2) plays Rialto Eisenhower (11-1) in Division I games Friday.

The girls’ state volleyball championships will be played Saturday at Cypress College.

The schedule:

Division V--San Juan Capistrano St. Margaret’s vs. Ripon Christian, 9 a.m.

Division IV--Los Angeles Notre Dame Academy vs. Menlo, 11 a.m.

Division III--Torrance Bishop Montgomery vs. Forestville El Molino, 1:30 p.m.

Division II--Santa Margarita vs. Mountain View St. Francis, 5 p.m.

Division I--Newport Harbor vs. Stockton Lincoln, 7 p.m.

The West regional cross-country championships will be run Saturday at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.

Races begin at 7 a.m. with the seeded girls’ race starting at 1:15 p.m. and the seeded boys’ race at 1:45.

Defending regional champions Sara Bei of Santa Rosa Montgomery and Josh Rohatinsky of Utah’s Provo High will compete.

The top eight finishers in each seeded race advance to the national championships Dec. 11 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
