No Explanation for Referee Mix-Up

Southern Section officials still were unable to explain Saturday why game officials assigned to Friday night’s Division IX semifinal playoff game between Western and Brea Olinda failed to show up at Western High. The game was rescheduled to Saturday night.

“I’ve spent a great deal of time dealing with this this morning,” Southern Section associate commissioner Bill Clark said. “It’s a very regrettable situation.”

Although admission to Saturday’s game was free, many of the 3,000 or so fans who purchased tickets for Friday’s game were unable to attend the makeup. Clark said the section office would release a statement Monday regarding refunds.
