Coming off a victory over No. 2 Woodbridge, the Eagles are poised to stake a claim on the top spot, after the Cougars (2-1) were upset by No. 6 Aliso Niguel in the Mater Dei tournament on Saturday. However, Santa Margarita (4-0) will have a tough time holding the top ranking. After Tuesday’s game, the Eagles travel to face a strong Los Alamitos squad on Thursday, and on Friday they play at No. 5 Mission Viejo (3-0), another team expecting to move up in the rankings after defeating No. 4 Esperanza (3-1-2) for the Mater Dei tournament title.
