Fire Guts Restrooms; Arson Suspected
Authorities believe an arsonist started a fire that gutted two public restrooms and caused $25,000 in damage early Saturday at Pleasant Valley Park.
No one was injured in the fire at 1030 Temple Ave.When firefighters arrived shortly before 7 a.m., the fire was nearly out because heat had caused the pipes to burst and water doused the flames, officials said.
Someone appeared to have piled garbage inside the adjoining restrooms and ignited it, said a dispatcher for the Ventura County Fire Department.
No suspects were arrested and the investigation is continuing, the dispatcher said.
