Playoff pairings were released Sunday for boys’ basketball, girls’ basketball and girls’ water polo. Here’s a summary of the pairings.

Strong late-season showings by the girls’ water polo teams from Capistrano Valley and Rosary helped them earn top seedings in their respective Southern Section playoff brackets.

Capistrano Valley, which finished second to Santa Barbara in the Southern California Invitational Feb. 6, is seeded No. 1 in Division I. The Cougars (18-7), play Long Beach Millikan Saturday in the first round.

Rosary (18-4) is top-seeded in Division IV and plays Sunny Hills Saturday in the first round.
