A man in his 20s was shot in the face and back after he returned to his Larchmont Square house Monday and walked in on a home-invasion robbery, Los Angeles police said.

Three robbers were already in the house on North Lucerne Boulevard about 3:30 p.m., holding three residents while they ransacked the place looking for valuables, police said.

“When the fourth person arrived, he was taken to the rear portion of the house, where he was shot multiple times by one of the suspects,” said Los Angeles Police Officer Jason Lee.

As the robbers fled, the wounded man staggered to the porch.

He was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where he was reported in serious but stable condition.

“He’s expected to live,” Lee said.

The identity of the victim was not immediately released and police did not give other details of the incident.

Police were searching Monday night for three men who fled south on Lucerne in a late-model red Dodge Neon sedan.
