Father Runs Over Son, Severely Injuring Him
A man in a pickup truck ran over his 4-year-old son in a parking lot Friday, critically injuring the boy.
The child was undergoing surgery at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles Friday night, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
The accident occurred in the 7200 block of Foothill Boulevard about 4 p.m., and paramedics took the boy and his father to the pediatric hospital in Hollywood on a helicopter, he said.
The child was on a bike with training wheels, Humphrey said. The boy was wearing a bicycle helmet, which was crushed. He suffered trauma to the left side of his head and was vomiting blood, Humphrey said.
