Azusa Pacific Rolls Past Chapman

Share

Junior Amy Lemm scored 17 of her game-high 21 points in the second half as visiting Azusa Pacific took advantage of poor shooting by Chapman to win, 70-50, in a nonconference women’s basketball game Friday.

Lemm made seven of 11 shots from the field in the second half and had 10 rebounds in the game for Azusa Pacific (9-3).

Chapman (8-3) trailed by 10 at the half and any chance of a comeback was hurt when the Panthers went 0 for 17 on three-point attempts, including missing eight in the second half. Chapman was 19 of 58 (33%) from the field.

Azusa Pacific had a statistical oddity of its own as the Cougars had only one free-throw attempt, by Beth Centlivre, in the second half. Chapman, which was called for seven fouls, made 12 of 19 free throws.

Lyndsay Brown made five of eight shots from the field and six of 11 free throws and scored a team-high 16 for Chapman.
