Brea Rallies Late, Gets 22 Points From Dodd to Beat Gahr, 67-63
Brea Olinda’s Dexter Villapando made two three-pointers and Ryan Wilber hit another one in the final minutes as the Wildcats rallied for a 67-63 nonleague boys’ basketball victory Saturday over Cerritos Gahr.
Kyle Dodd scored 22 points and had eight assists for the visiting Wildcats (12-2). Wilber scored 12 points all on three-pointers.
In other nonleague games:
Century 39, Sunny Hills 36--Mike Zepeda had 19 points and 13 rebounds for Century (6-9).
El Toro 68, Trabuco Hills 53--Ken Tanaka scored 15 to lead El Toro (11-5).
Brandon Martin scored 18 points to lead Trabuco Hills.
Foothill 77, Fullerton 68--Alex Rassmussen scored 27 points, including five three-pointers, and Drew Buford had 14 points and 10 assists to lead host Foothill (12-3). Michael Bridgford scored 20 points and Akachi Azubuike had 19 for Fullerton (5-11).
Irvine 57, Dana Hills 45--Chris Ferguson scored 29 points, including four three-pointers, to lead Irvine. Brett Nowell scored nine points to lead Dana Hills (7-9).
Magnolia 63, Garden Grove 36--Freshman Geoffrey Clayton had 16 points, eight in the third quarter to lead Magnolia (7-8).
Newport Harbor 90, El Modena 48--Alan Limon scored 26 points and Matt Jameson had 17 points and eight assists for Newport Harbor (14-2). Limon had 19 points in the first half to help Newport Harbor take a 43-17 lead.
Ocean View 58, Fountain Valley 36--Tony Dow had 22 points, eight assists and six rebounds to lead Ocean View (12-3).
Casey Lawson had 13 points and nine rebounds for Ocean View.
Westminster 74, Marina 68--Andros Pescador had 12 points to lead Westminster (4-12) to the come-from-behind victory. The Lions trailed by 12 points at halftime, 37-25, but outscored Marina (8-7), 22-8, in the third quarter.
In the Katella girls’ soccer tournament:
Katella 2, Connelly 0--Erika Vargas and Summer Vance scored second-half goals and Katella held Connelly to one shot to advance to the Gold Division semifinal at 10:30 a.m. next Saturday against Costa Mesa. Katella (5-3-1) had 31 shots on goal.
Sunny Hills 8, Orange 0--Megan Broschak, Simi Phull and Jill Wilson each scored two goals for Sunny Hills, which took a 3-0 halftime lead. The Lancers (8-1-5) play Canyon in the Gold Division semifinals at 10:30 a.m. next Saturday.
