Tagaloa, Medlen Lead Golden West to Victory

Evalani Tagaloa and Kelly Medlen each scored 15 points to lead Golden West to a 69-64 victory over Victor Valley in a nonconference women’s basketball game Saturday at Victory Valley.

Medlen made a free throw with a minute left in the game to give Golden West a 66-62 lead. Jennifer Swanson scored for Victor Valley eight seconds later, but Tagaloa scored and Amy Pace made a free throw to seal the victory for the Rustlers (6-10). Tagaloa had seven assists and six steals for Golden West, which led, 36-28, at halftime.

In another nonconference game:

Orange Coast 61, Cerritos 51--Natalie Weeks scored 21 points and had 13 rebounds for Orange Coast, which took a 27-19 halftime lead. Cerritos came within two with 12 minutes left in the game but the Pirates (16-1) extended their lead to 14 points. Jennifer Ma scored 22 points to lead Cerritos (9-7).
