Royal 67, Newbury Park 55--Mari Myllykoski scored 11 points in the first and third quarters to lead the Highlanders (6-5) in a Marmonte League opener at Royal.

Royal made all of its free throws.

Oak Park 52, L.A. Baptist 32--Cori Grover scored nine of her 22 points in the first quarter to help Oak Park (5-7) get off to a strong strong in a nonleague game at L.A. Baptist. Grover had six three-pointers.

Littlerock 63, Hart 60--Lizette Rams hit a three-point basket at the buzzer in overtime to lift the Lobos (8-7) in a nonleague game at Littlerock.

Jameka Taylor had 15 points for Littlerock and hit a three-pointer to force overtime.

Briana Kentfield of Hart (5-7) led all scorers with 27 points.

Valencia 88, Duarte 31--Sophomore Valerie Pina scored 16 of her 21 points in the first half to help the Vikings (8-7) in a nonleague game at Valencia.

BOYS’ GAMES

Newbury Park 60, Royal 43--Brian Bobik had 29 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Panthers (9-3, 1-0), defending Marmonte League champions, in a league opener at Royal High.

Harvard-Westlake 86, St. Francis 63--Russell Lakey scored 21 points and had five three-pointers to help the Wolverines in a Mission League opener at St. Francis.

Lakey hit three three-pointers in the second half for Harvard-Westlake (8-7), which finished with nine three-point baskets.

The Wolverines shot 52.3%.

Jeff Brown scored 23 points for St. Francis (10-5).

Verdugo Hills 62, Van Nuys 54--Junior Kevin Baird had 20 points and 14 rebounds to lead Verdugo Hills (3-8) in a first-round game of the Van Nuys tournament.

Abe Morabbi scored 30 points, including five three-pointers, for Van Nuys (3-6).

Reseda 52, Sherman Oaks CES 28--Reseda (7-5) held Sherman Oaks CES (4-6) to single-digit scoring in each of the first three quarters in the first round of the Van Nuys tournament.

Paso Robles 62, Channel Islands 48--Dwight Sattiewhite had 23 points and 12 rebounds but the Raiders (6-6) lost a nonleague game at Channel Islands.
