Burbank 56, Canyon 45--Natalie Avanecy had 19 points for the Bulldogs and Christina Hernandez limited LaTricia Fleming to six points in the first half of a Foothill League opener at Canyon.

Melani Marotian added 15 points for Burbank (5-9).

Fleming finished with 16.

Simi Valley 49, Westlake 39--The Warriors trailed most of the game before taking a 34-33 lead with five minutes to play, but the Pioneers regained control of the Marmonte League game after that.

Annmarie Turpin scored 11 of her 16 points in the fourth quarter for Simi Valley (13-4, 2-1), and Elise Metcalf had six of her eight points in the quarter.

Tawney Thorp had 11 points and Lottie Kanama added 10 for Westlake.

Moorpark 59, Newbury Park 56--The Musketeers went to a small lineup in the second quarter after falling behind, 17-13, and got 28 points from their reserves in a Marmonte League victory at Moorpark.

Damaris Hinojosa had 24 points, including three three-point baskets, 16 rebounds, five assists and two blocked shots for No. 4 Moorpark (14-1, 3-0).

Reserve Libby Cantwell scored 13 for the Musketeers, including three three-pointers.

Bridget Harris scored 17 for Newbury Park.

Royal 59, Agoura 46--Mari Myllykoski scored 10 of her 16 points in the fourth quarter to help the Highlanders extend a 40-37 edge in a Marmonte League victory at Royal.

Myllykoski hit all six of her free throws in the fourth quarter and Royal (7-5, 2-0) made nine of 11 free throws in the quarter, when the Highlanders outscored Agoura, 19-7.

Agoura (9-6, 0-2) made one of five free throws in the fourth quarter.

Royal got 14 points from Leticia Saldain, who was brought up from the junior varsity last week after starter Kristin Galbreath suffered a broken hand.

Crescenta Valley 56, Muir 46--Sinnamonn Garrett had 20 points and Kristina Alvero added 15 for the No. 2 Falcons (14-2) in a Pacific League victory at Crescenta Valley.

Santa Paula 80, Calabasas 55--Sarah Kolbeck scored 20 of her 28 points to spark the Cardinals (8-8) to a 44-23 halftime lead in a Frontier League opener at Calabasas (7-5).

Campbell Hall 55, Pacific Hills 52--Emily Abrams had 16 points for the Vikings (10-4, 1-1) in a Delphic League victory at Campbell Hall.
