Quake Series Including 4.4 Jars Desert Near El Centro
A cluster of earthquakes, the strongest a moderate magnitude 4.4, hit a desert region in the Imperial Valley on Wednesday, but caused neither damage nor injuries, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The 4.4 temblor occurred at 5:21 a.m. and was centered 22 miles southwest of El Centro. Two other quakes in the sequence measured magnitude 3.8 and 3.1.
