The Falcons are Chris Chandler’s sixth team in 11 seasons, but he rejected the term “survivor” to describe his odyssey and late-career success.

“I’ve been playing really good football for three years or so,” he said. “I’ve overcome a lot. . . . My redemption has come in the last few years when the teams that let me go kept struggling.”

Falcon Coach Dan Reeves brought Chandler to Atlanta, and Chandler is grateful for the chance.

“That made all the difference in the world, when Dan brought me here and told me I was his guy,” Chandler said. “That really helped my confidence. I’ve never had any coach do that.”

Said Reeves: “When we signed him we told him he could win a Super Bowl for us, and now he’s one game away.”
