Kaur’s Clutch Shot, 28 Points Lift Saddleback

Saddleback defeated Ocean View, 54-51, in overtime Thursday night in a Golden West League girls’ basketball game.

Prabjot Kaur, who had 28 points, scored with four seconds left to send the game into overtime.

Kaur, who had five three-pointers, scored four of visiting Saddleback’s seven points in overtime. Jasmine Leibel scored 24 points for Ocean View. Saddleback is 8-10, 2-3.

In other Golden West League games:

No. 7 Westminster 62, Tustin 48--Tara Moore had 24 points and 12 rebounds for visiting Westminster (16-3, 5-0). Brook Brown had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Tustin (10-9, 3-2).

Rosary 55, Santa Ana 16--Maggie Barnett led Rosary with 16 points and teammate Jenise Karcher had 13. Maggie Ruelas’ 21 rebounds highlighted the Saints’ effort.

In the Empire League:

Century 46, Kennedy 25--Aprile Powell got Century off to a fast start as she scored 14 of her 31 points in the first quarter. League-leader Century improved to 17-3, 5-0.

Cypress 45, Katella 42--Cypress (1-3 in league) used a 19-10 fourth quarter to pull away. Lyndsay Weaver had 22 points for the Centurions.

In the Olympic League:

Calvary Chapel 56, Cerritos Valley Christian 40--Cathy Joens led host Calvary Chapel (15-5, 6-0) with 25 points. Valley Christian is 10-5, 5-1.

Orange Lutheran 48, Sierra Madre Maranatha 39--Freshman Rachel Cariker had a career-high 17 points, along with seven rebounds. Anna Klitzing had five rebounds and six assists. The win put Orange Lutheran in sole possession of first place in the Olympic League.

In the Orange League:

No. 1 Brea Olinda 86, Western 26--Chelsea Trotter had 21 points and 14 rebounds and Lindsey Davidson had 18 points and nine assists for visiting Brea (16-3, 4-0).

In the Pacific Coast League:

Laguna Hills 42, Estancia 36--Shannon Owens had 16 points, along with six rebounds and six steals for Laguna Hills. Teammate Anne Bubriski had nine points and eight rebounds. Lisa Steinfeld had 16 points, including four three-pointers, for Estancia.

In the Sea View League:

No. 6 El Toro 68, Irvine 44--Giuliana Mendiola scored 31 points and sister Gioconda added 22 points for El Toro. Jodi Carlson scored 24 points for Irvine (13-8, 2-3).

Santa Margarita 60, Corona del Mar 43--Susan Leary had 13 points, and was one of three players to reach double figures for Santa Margarita (13-7, 4-1). Corona del Mar’s Jennifer Dickson was the game’s top scorer with 18 points.

In the Sunset League:

No. 2 Edison 53, Huntington Beach 40--Christina Patterson had 19 points and eight rebounds for visiting Edison (17-4, 5-0). Kelsy Brown had 10 points for Huntington Beach (8-13, 2-3).

No. 3 Marina 61, Los Alamitos 33--Chanda McLeod scored 19 points and had 11 rebounds for Marina (19-2, 4-1).

Esperanza 52, Fountain Valley 37--Esperanza point guard Kim Omer had a game-high 18 points. Junior forward Kristin Peters added 11 points for the Aztecs.
