Heads-Up Goal Saves Deadlock for Chaminade

Mindy Wyatt’s second-half goal on a header earned Chaminade High a 1-1 tie with Louisville in a Mission League girls’ soccer game Monday at Chaminade.

Wyatt scored off a corner kick in the 60th minute to keep second-place Chaminade (15-3-2, 4-1-1 in league play) a half-game ahead of Louisville (12-1-3, 3-1-1).

Louisville’s Bridgett Madell scored in the first half on an assist from Jenny Farenbaugh.

In other girls’ soccer games:

Granada Hills 4, Palisades 3--Sabrina Love scored three goals for Granada Hills (5-5, 1-4) in a Coast/Valley League game at Palisades.

Chatsworth 12, Grant 1--Shannon Devos, Jackie Fodor and Jenna Fodor each scored two goals in a Coast/Valley League game at Chatsworth (15-2-1, 5-0).

San Fernando 8, Taft 1--Dolores Sanchez scored six goals in a West Valley League game at San Fernando (6-3, 4-3).

Sanchez has 19 goals in conference play.

BOYS’ SOCCER

El Camino Real 4, Chatsworth 2--The host Conquistadores (12-4-2, 7-1-1) held on in a Northwest Valley Conference game after taking an early 3-0 lead.

Chatsworth (4-5-2, 4-3-2) got goals from Jose Dominguez.

Birmingham 6, San Fernando 1--Jaime Gomez scored twice in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Birmingham (10-3, 7-0-2).

John Ortega, Juan Herrera, Mike Erush and Adonay Jovel also scored for Birmingham.

Kennedy 2, Taft 1--Diego Gonzalez scored the winning goal in the second half of a Northwest Valley Conference game.

Bruno Queiroz also scored for Kennedy (4-8-4, 1-6-2) and Nick Sanchez scored for Taft.

Granada Hills 2, Cleveland 1--Tyler Mallote’s game-winning goal came in the 76th minute of a Northwest Valley Conference game at Granada Hills.

Ian Estanciero also scored for Granada Hills (5-2-5, 3-2-4).

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Westlake 63, Agoura 53--Christine Wilkins’ two three-point baskets in overtime helped lift host Westlake (8-11, 3-4) in a Marmonte League game.

Maki Tagai made a three-point basket at the buzzer in regulation for Agoura (1-6 in league), tying the score, 49-49.

Westlake’s Lottie Kanama and Tawny Thorp each scored 21 points.

Alemany 90, Flintridge Sacred Heart 28--Kate Beckler scored 26 points for host Alemany (14-5, 5-1) in a Mission League game.
