Raiders Play Like Mad and Get Even
Channel Islands High avenged an earlier loss to Santa Barbara with a 57-40 victory Thursday night in a nonleague girls’ basketball game at Channel Islands.
Jaline Bradley had 19 points and seven rebounds for the Raiders (16-6), ranked fourth in The Times’ regional poll, and Monique Taylor had 18 points.
Channel Islands, which lost to Santa Barbara, 53-48, late in December, had 42 rebounds.
Lauren Brooker scored 16 points and Lisa Willet had 13 for the Dons.
Camarillo 50, Oxnard 33--Lauren Ferreira scored 14 points, had 13 rebounds and blocked four shots to help the host Scorpions hand the Yellowjackets their first Pacific View League loss.
Two nights after Oxnard [9-13, 4-1] defeated Channel Islands [3-1 in league], 65-62, to move into first place in league, it managed only 13 first-half points.
Lisa Donahue added 14 points and Gillian Lillich had 11 for Camarillo [11-11, 3-2].
Buena 67, San Marcos 30--Kelly Greathouse scored 14 of her 22 points as the Bulldogs (18-2, 5-0) built a 37-14 halftime lead in a Channel League game at Buena.
Greathouse made 11 of 19 shots and Courtney La Vere added 16 points for Buena, ranked No. 1.
Ventura 88, Dos Pueblos 36--Alex Gientke scored 10 of her 28 points in the second quarter when the seventh-ranked Cougars (14-9, 3-2) outscored the Chargers, 29-5, in a Channel League victory at Dos Pueblos.
Kristine Gleisberg added 12 points and nine rebounds and Julie Essary had 12 points for Ventura.
Harvard-Westlake 61, Louisville 38--Rolake Bamgbose had 20 points and 12 rebounds, and Omelogo Udeze had 17 points and 10 rebounds for the No. 5 Wolverines (20-4, 6-0) in a Mission League victory over the Royals (12-8, 3-3) at Harvard-Westlake.
Notre Dame 55, Chaminade 38--Jamie Fortin and K.K. Barwick each scored five points for the Knights in a 13-0 run in the second quarter of a Mission League victory at Chaminade.
Fortin scored 13 points for Notre Dame (13-9, 4-2).
Tabitha Zimbert had 17 points for Chaminade (5-14, 1-5).
Littlerock 58, Highland 38--Kristel Jones scored 18 points and Jolene Haywood added 15 for the Lobos, who scored the last 14 points of the second quarter to pull away in a Golden League victory at Littlerock.
Village Christian 47, Pasadena Marshall 19--Jenielee Greslie had 23 points and 13 rebounds, and Karri Peeble added 12 points, seven rebounds and seven steals for the Crusaders (11-10, 3-1) in an Alpha League victory at Marshall.
Paraclete 59, L.A. Baptist 36--Christine Lambert scored 22 points and Jackie Kolesar added 16 for the Spirits (13-7, 4-0) in an Alpha League game at Paraclete.
Kelly Feirfeil scored 15 points for the Knights (4-11, 1-3).
Oak Park 46, Fillmore 39--Kim Bryan scored 12 points and Cori Grover scored all nine of her points on three-point shots for the Eagles (9-9, 3-3) in a Tri-Valley League victory at Fillmore.
Lacie Beall scored 18 points for Fillmore.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Faith Baptist 32, Grace Brethren 29--Jeremy Lopez made two three-pointers and Julio Bautista scored nine points in the fourth quarter to ignite a 15-2 run and the Contenders came from 10 points down to take the Heritage League lead at Faith Baptist.
Stefan Grasau had 12 rebounds and blocked five shots down the stretch for Faith Baptist (12-8, 7-1).
Robert Serra had 13 points for the Lancers (11-7, 6-2).
