Mattice Leads Santa Ana Past Riverside
Chris Mattice scored 32 points, leading Santa Ana to a 98-92 victory over Riverside in Orange Empire Conference men’s basketball Friday at Santa Ana.
Mattice converted 15 of 19 free throws and the Dons (18-7, 6-2) made 30 of 39 free throws.
In other Orange Empire Conference men’s basketball:
Cypress 76, Fullerton 71--Ryan Tenpas scored 18 points and had seven rebounds to lead Cypress (9-16, 2-6) at home. Brad Smith and Chris Killens each scored 15 points for the Chargers.
Ronald Strange led Fullerton (12-13, 3-5) with 19 points. Lawrence Felder had 17 points and seven rebounds for the Hornets.
Saddleback 69, Orange Coast 58--Saddleback took a 36-17 halftime lead at Orange Coast. Vernon Jackson scored 24 points and had 12 rebounds for the Gauchos (16-8, 7-1), and Andre Jackson had 10 points and 10 rebounds.
In Orange Empire Conference women’s basketball:
Fullerton 84, Cypress 75--Chris Payne had 23 points and eight rebounds and Teresa Manning had 19 points to lead visiting Fullerton (13-11, 4-4).
Angela Garrett led Cypress (10-15, 3-5) with 25 points.
Irvine Valley 74, Golden West 67--Phouangmaly Pravongviengkham led Irvine Valley (20-4, 8-0) with 19 points. Tracy Downs had 27 points and 15 rebounds for visiting Golden West (6-18, 0-8). Jennifer Laster had 22 points and tied a Golden West record with seven three-pointers.
Orange Coast 67, Saddleback 59--Adria Sortino scored 18 points to lead the Pirates (22-3, 6-2) at home. Leah Wilde made three three-pointers and scored 14 points for OCC. Christina Carcich’s 15 points led Saddleback (7-17, 1-7).
Santa Ana 98, Riverside 63--Stephanie Patten scored 27 points and Rochelle Anthony scored 24 to lead Santa Ana (18-7, 6-2).
