Monarchs Hand Comets Rare Loss
Ruthie Bolton-Holifield scored 20 points and the Sacramento Monarchs surprised league-leading Houston, 74-63, Thursday night before 9,505 at Sacramento, the two-time defending champion Comets’ second loss in 13 games.
It was the sixth loss in the last two seasons for Houston (11-2), which has gone 42-6 over that span.

Sophia Witherspoon made four three-pointers and scored 22 points in New York’s 84-49 victory in front of 8,018 at Cleveland. . . . Wendy Palmer came off the bench to score 17 points and Adrienne Goodson added 15 as Utah won its third straight game with an 81-65 victory before 12,515 at Washington.
