Road Looks Good to Diamondbacks
Kelly Stinnett had a three-run home run and four runs batted in to lead the Arizona Diamondbacks over the San Diego Padres, 7-4, Wednesday night for their eighth win in nine games.
Erubiel Durazo had three hits in his first major league start, helping Arizona complete a three-game sweep. The 1 1/2-year-old Diamondbacks, who lead the National League West, have won six consecutive road games for the first time.
Tony Gwynn was one for four to close within nine hits of 3,000, but San Diego lost for the sixth consecutive time. The Padres, who also lost the completion of a suspended game before the streak began, are on their longest skid since an eight-game dip from April 22-30, 1997.
Omar Daal (10-5) allowed four runs--three earned--and six hits in 7 1/3 innings. Daal, 3-0 in his last four starts, struck out six and walked three.
Dan Plesac got three outs for his first save since last Sept. 21.
Brian Boehringer (6-3) gave up six runs and nine hits--both season highs--in five innings.
