Fullerton Hits 6 Home Runs

Aaron Rifkin and Shawn Norris each hit two home runs to help Cal State Fullerton defeat host Sacramento State, 14-7, in a Big West Conference baseball game Sunday.

Rifkin finished with five runs batted in and Norris had three for the Titans, who won their 11th consecutive game. Reed Johnson and Sean Bichofberger also hit home runs for the Titans.

Fullerton (21-5, 6-0 in conference), which had 13 home runs in its first 23 games, hit 14 home runs and scored 46 runs in the three-game series with Sacramento (9-18, 2-7).

Winning pitcher Jordan DeJong (3-0) gave up six earned runs and 12 hits in 7 1/3 innings but struck out seven and walked none for the Titans.

Fullerton outfielder Spencer Oborn’s fifth-inning single extended his hitting streak to 25 games.

Brandon Marshall had two hits, including a home run, and three RBIs for Sacramento.

At the UCI Spring Invitational women’s tennis tournament:

UC Irvine 8, Wichita State 1--Nickole Kabe won at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-1 and teamed with Carla Nasca to win at No. 3 doubles, 8-5, for host Irvine, which advanced to today’s semifinals to play Oregon.
