Thousand Oaks Over the Top in Bottom of 7th, 8-7

Ryan Fitzgerald, called up from the junior varsity a week ago, hit a run-scoring single in the seventh inning to cap a three-run rally and give Thousand Oaks High an 8-7 victory over Agoura in a Marmonte League game Saturday at Thousand Oaks.

The Lancers (5-3, 2-1) trailed, 5-2, but scored three in the sixth to tie the score.

Tracy Goebel had three hits for Thousand Oaks and Chris Denove had three runs batted in for Agoura (3-4-1, 0-3), which scored two in the seventh.

Monte Vista 5-11, Notre Dame 4-6--The Knights (9-2), No. 1 in The Times’ regional poll, suffered their first defeats to San Diego Monte Vista (11-1) at Notre Dame.

Hart 5-6, El Dorado 3-1--Tim Hutting pitched a four-hitter with 11 strikeouts in the second game and the fifth-ranked Indians (10-1) swept the Golden Hawks (7-3) at El Dorado.

Westlake 6, Calabasas 3--Kevin Howard had four hits, including a two-run home run, for the Warriors (6-1-1) at Calabasas.

Rio Mesa 11, St. Monica 3--Richard Martinez’s three-run home run sparked a six-run fourth inning in a pool-play game of the Redondo tournament at Rio Mesa.

Kennedy 8, South Torrance 6--Phil Alvas doubled home the tie-breaking run in the 10th and the Cougars (5-5) won a Redondo tournament game at South Torrance.

El Camino Real 3, Poly 2--Adam Sperling pitched a six-hitter to help the Conquistadores (9-1) win a Birmingham tournament game.

Birmingham 6, Poly 5--Billy McGrath’s run-scoring single in the eighth gave the Patriots (5-5) a Birmingham tournament victory.

Campbell Hall 10, L.A. Baptist 9--Steve Kim’s run-scoring single in the eighth gave the Vikings the L.A. Baptist tournament title.

Brett Comden of Campbell Hall (9-0) hit a three-run home run in the seventh to tie the score, 9-9.
