Business owners received some answers recently at the first meeting on the 17th Street widening project, which would add two lanes to both sides of 17th Street between Orange and Irvine avenues. Transportation Manager Peter Naghavi presented four variations of the plan, which include building medians, closing off driveways and changing sidewalk widths. He gave brief presentations to about 80 business owners between Orange and Santa Ana avenues. Two more meetings will be held with other block areas. Each block area will be asked to select two representatives to serve on an ad hoc committee to help develop plans for the widening.
