Hiserman Takes Position as Times OC Sports Editor

Mike Hiserman has joined The Times Orange County Edition as sports editor.

Hiserman, 38, who was sports editor of The Times’ Valley and Ventura County editions for almost three years, has been with the newspaper since 1982. As a reporter, Hiserman was part of the team that covered the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta and was a member of an award-winning investigative team that looked into sports betting tip services.

He graduated from Kennedy High School and attended Cypress and Golden West colleges.

Keith Thursby, who had been sports editor since 1995, becomes executive news editor of the Orange County Edition.

He will be the edition’s primary Page One news editor and will supervise 25 copy and news editors in Metro, Business, Southern California Living and Calendar.

Thursby, 42, a Cal State Fullerton graduate, has been with The Times since 1986 as a news, graphics and copy editor in Orange County and Los Angeles.
