SEASON AT A GLANCE: Nelson, a 6-foot-4 setter-outside hitter, missed four weeks because of a broken finger, but has returned to help lead Alemany to the Southern Section Division II semifinals for the first time. Nelson, who has signed with UCLA, plays is solid all around, with the ability to hit, block, set or dig.

WEEK AT A GLANCE: Nelson had 16 kills, five blocks and 10 digs in a second-round victory over Foothill and 18 kills, five blocks and 17 digs in an upset of No. 3-seeded Bishop Montgomery in the quarterfinals. “The bigger the match, the bigger the player he becomes,” Coach Jamie Quaglino said.

SEASON AT A GLANCE: Fleshman, runner-up in the national cross-country championships in December, has run 2:11.05 in the 800, 4:27.73 in the 1,500, 4:59.4 in the 1,600 and 10:21.36 in the 3,200. The 1,500 and 3,200 times are the fastest in the nation this year.

WEEK AT A GLANCE: The Stanford-bound Fleshman won the 800 in 2:11.05, the 1,600 in 5:00.30 and the 3,200 in 10:55.69 in the Division II races of the Southern Section divisional championships at Cerritos College on Saturday. It was the first time a girl won the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 in the section championships in the same year. “I didn’t let [the pressure of attempting the triple] get to me,” Fleshman said. “I just focused on how much I wanted to do it.”
