Two more victories.

That’s all that separates 11 area softball teams from the opportunity to play for a Southern Section championship.

The first of those steps can be taken at 3:15 p.m. today in quarterfinal games.

Defending Division I champion Mater Dei (26-4) travels to Camarillo (21-6) for a rematch of a Thousand Oaks tournament game won by the Monarchs, 1-0.

Thousand Oaks (22-8) travels to Fontana A.B. Miller (18-10) and could benefit from a fatigued opponent for the second time this week.

The Lancers, who on Tuesday upset top-seeded Quartz Hill, 6-3, the day after Quartz Hill survived a 19-inning game, face an A.B. Miller team that went 22 innings Tuesday in a 3-2 victory over San Clemente.

Saugus (19-9-1) and Hart (23-5-1) continue to follow similar paths in Division III.

The Foothill League co-champions won home games in the first two rounds before playing quarterfinals on the road.

Hart plays at second-seeded Cerritos. Saugus will travel to Moreno Valley, a 1-0 winner over top-seeded El Dorado on Tuesday.

Saugus is attempting to reach the semifinals for the third time in four seasons.

A home victory for Newbury Park (23-7) over Placentia Valencia (20-11) likely sends the No. 4 Panthers into a Division III semifinal against top-seeded Pacifica.

Division IV provides the only matchup of two area teams, with La Canada (20-7-1) playing at top-seeded Chaminade (22-6-1).

Rosary, the 1998 Division IV runner-up, hosts Harvard-Westlake (16-15) and will try to avenge a 22-point loss to the Wolverines in the state girls’ basketball semifinals.

Harvard-Westlake, like Chaminade, seeks its second semifinal berth in a row.

L.A. Baptist (13-11) hopes its good luck continues after winning coin tosses for the Alpha League’s No. 1 playoff spot and home-field advantage in the second and quarterfinal rounds. The Knights, who upset top-seeded Santa Maria St. Joseph, 4-3, on Tuesday, host Mary Star (22-3).

La Reina (21-7), seeking its third section title in the 1990s, hosts Santa Ana Calvary Chapel (14-6), which seeks its third title in a row.

Defending Division VI champion Cornerstone Christian (23-6) hosts Liberty Christian.
