Kennedy 34, Van Nuys 6--Ruben Zaragoza completed 10 of 15 passes for 156 yards and four touchdowns and had a rushing touchdown at Van Nuys.
Van Nuys (1-8, 0-4) took a 6-0 lead on Yesel Manrique’s four-yard touchdown run. The drive covered 61 yards in nine plays. Manrique finished with 73 yards in 24 carries.
The Golden Cougars (6-3, 3-1) responded with a 75-yard pass play from Zaragoza to James Norris for a 7-6 lead.
Kennedy scored twice more before halftime as Zaragoza connected on touchdown passes of seven and six yards to Sanders Trent and Daron Taylor.
After a scoreless third quarter, Zaragoza connected with Taylor on a 22-yard pass play and scored the game’s final touchdown on a one-yard run with late in the fourth quarter.
