Fullerton’s Jung Wins by 8 Shots

Fullerton’s Hye-yoon Jung won the individual title and Orange Coast earned a berth in the state tournament at the women’s Southern California Community College Golf championship Monday at Menifee Lakes.

Jung shot a one-over-par 73 on Sunday and 74 Monday, for a total of 147. She won by eight shots over Kim Melrose of Mt. San Antonio and Jennifer Tunzi of Orange Coast.

Mt. San Antonio won with a total of 644 and Orange Coast (671) was second. They advance to the state tournament starting Sunday at Auburn Hill Country Club in Auburn. Long Beach (676) was third and Saddleback (680) fourth.

Tunzi had rounds of 80 and 75 and Olivia Slutzsky of Saddleback shot 158 (82-76) to finish in a tie for sixth.
