Bakersfield GARCES 62, Paraclete 56--The Spirits (2-3) dropped below .500 for the first time since 1996 when the Rams (3-1) scored twice in the final 13 seconds at Bakersfield GARCES.

Andy Taylor returned John McMurtry’s blocked 33-yard field goal 84 yards for the victory as time expired.

Ryan Mask’s 13-yard touchdown pass to Jimmy Gardiner and two-point conversion run with 13 seconds remaining tied the score for GARCES, 56-56, capping a 70-yard drive.

Rob Fockaert answered with a 41-yard pass to Nick Haase to set up McMurtry’s field goal attempt.

The loss spoiled Curtis Brown’s rushing performance.

Brown carried 31 times for a school-record 372 yards, including touchdown runs of 34, 45, five and 55 yards.

There were seven ties or lead exchanges in the second half as the teams combined for 69 points.
