Santa Maria St. Joseph 43, Whittier Christian 10--Whittier Christian scored first when St. Joseph’s Brian Nunez was tackled in the end zone for a safety, but it was almost all St. Joseph after that at Brea Olinda High.
St. Joseph scored on a 47-yard run by Tim Felix and a 51-yard pass from Beau Pierce to Ryan Smith. With 16 seconds remaining in the half, Whittier Christian’s Abraham Santos hit Nathan Endemano with a 58-yard touchdown pass.
St. Joseph (3-2) held Whittier Christian (0-5) to 48 yards in the second half and outscored the Heralds 31-0. Smith scored touchdowns on six- and 45-yard passes from Pierce, who completed 11 of 20 passes for 223 yards. Smith caught six passes for 108 yards.
David Jones gained 60 yards in 16 carriers for the Heralds. Whittier Christian quarterback Abraham Santos completed six of 14 for 110 yards.
