Harvey Helps Canyon Hang On

Senior Gerald Harvey scored four touchdowns and rushed for 251 yards in 20 carries to lead Canyon to a 34-31 Century League victory over Foothill Thursday night at El Modena High School.
A 34-yard field goal by Ryan Keyes with 10:28 left in the game turned out to be the difference. Keyes also hit a 31-yard field goal in the second quarter.
Harvey had the big offensive numbers for the Comanches.
He scored on a 99-yard touchdown run with 7:01 left in the fourth quarter to give Canyon (2-5 overall, 1-1 in league) a 34-17 lead.
But Foothill (0-7, 0-2) came back to cut the lead to 34-24 when quarterback Mike Castillo connected with Auskia Carroll on a 62-yard touchdown pass with 5:29 left in the game.
Foothill got the ball back with 2:08 left and marched to the Canyon 12-yard line, from where Castillo connected with Carroll on a touchdown pass with 1:11 left, cutting the lead to 34-31.
Foothill tried an onside kick, but Canyon recovered and ran out the clock.
Foothill took a 7-0 lead on a one-yard touchdown run by David Liti with 8:06 left in the first quarter.
But then Harvey took over, scoring on a three-yard run with 2:43 left in the quarter to trim the lead to 7-6. The Comanches missed the extra point.
Harvey then scored on a 58-yard touchdown run with 7:34 left in the second quarter to give Canyon a 14-7 lead.
