Whittier Christian Holds Off Ontario Christian

Abraham Santos threw three touchdowns passes, including a pair to Nathan Endemano, to pace Whittier Christian to a 36-29 victory over Ontario Christian in an Olympic League game Friday night at Brea Olinda High.

The Santos to Endemano scoring plays covered 20 and 16 yards. His other scoring pass was to Anthony Ruiz covering 38 yards.

It was the first win of the season for Whittier Christian.

In the first half, Ryan Fuqua of Ontario Christian (3-4, 0-2) scored three touchdowns--on runs of 65, 52, and 52 yards.

Fuqua added another score in the third quarter and finished the night with 256 yards in 25 carries.

With Ontario Christian leading, 29-28, in the fourth quarter, Santos and Endemano hooked up for 16 yards and the game winner for Whittier Christian (1-6-, 1-1).

Santos completed nine of 17 passes for 161 yards.

With 45 seconds remaining, Ontario Christian took the ball to the Whittier Christian five-yard line.

But Whittier Christian’s defense stiffened and on fourth down Justin Veenendaal’s pass to Jeff Talen was deflected by a Herald defender and fell to the ground.

David Jones rushed for 100 yards in 21 carries for Whittier Christian.
