In Empire League tennis:

El Dorado 14, Cypress 7--Kim Dao, Angela Rodriguez and Jackie Mantegna all swept in singles play to lead host El Dorado (11-9, 10-0). Dao won, 6-4, 6-0, Rodriguez won, 6-0, 6-1, and Mantegna swept, 6-4, 6-4, for the Golden Hawks.

Cypress falls to 16-4 overall and 8-2 in league play.

Katella 14 1/2, Kennedy 6 1/2--Freshman Catherine Ricohermoso swept at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0, and also won at No. 2 doubles, 6-0, with her partner Julie Hoces to lead Katella. Hoces also swept at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-0.

With the victory, the Knights clinched third place in the league and will go to the Southern Section playoffs for the first time in five years.

Katella finished 12-7 overall and 6-4 in league. Kennedy finished 2-8 in league.

In nonleague tennis:

No. 8 Troy 18, Garden Grove 0--Lori Judd and Stacey Lee swept at No. 1 doubles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0, to remain undefeated (45-0) on the year for host Troy (14-2). The Warriors’ Serena Fermin swept at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-1, for the Warriors.

Garden Grove was 16-1 coming into the match. Its only other loss was to Troy’s Freeway League rival, Sunny Hills.

Troy, which has clinched the Freeway League championship for the fourth consecutive year, returns to league play today against Buena Park.
