Kobe’s Passing Propels Canyons Past Moorpark

Chris Kobe completed 23 of 33 passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns to help College of the Canyons upset Moorpark, 37-29, in a Western State Conference Northern Division game Saturday night at Canyons.

It was Canyons’ eighth consecutive home victory and Moorpark’s first division loss.

Steve Smith rushed 11 times for 80 yards and two touchdowns for Canyons (5-2, 2-2 in division play). Major Caldwell added 103 yards in 15 carries.

Mark Hamilton caught eight passes for 63 yards and a touchdown for Canyons. Jason d’Autremont had five receptions for 84 yards.

Farhaad Azimi of Moorpark (4-3, 3-1) completed 17 of 42 passes for 279 yards and three touchdowns and three interceptions. He rushed 12 times for 85 yards.

Kobe, a transfer from Cal State Northridge, had three passes intercepted.

Moorpark’s Shayne Sobel caught seven passes for 166 yards, including touchdown passes of eight, 27 and 19 yards.
