OUTLOOK

The Chargers are counting on Whitaker to spice up their dormant offense. Whitaker was the backup quarterback last year, but he seems ready to break through. Milner has revamped the passing game to take advantage of Whitaker’s strong arm. Marquez, Dove, Lonne and McCaffrey--all three-year starters--give Whitaker an experienced group of receivers. Switzer, who rushed for 1,084 yards last year, has added 20 pounds but is still running a 4.6 40-yard dash. Switzer, an All-Sea View League selection as a sophomore, is also the team’s best defensive player.
