Doyle’s Goal Gives UCI Women a Tie

UC Irvine played to a 1-1 tie with North Texas in the Big West Conference women’s soccer opener Friday in Irvine.

Anteater Janelle Doyle broke a scoreless tie in the 38th minute, but Nikki Smetzer scored in the 75th minute to tie the score for North Texas.

In another conference game:

Utah State 2, CS Fullerton 1--Marci Giles and Brigid Turner scored second-half goals to lead Utah State (3-4, 2-1).

Amy Barnes scored the last goal of the game from 25 yards out in the 78th minute for the Titans.
