Johnson Gives It Best Shot, Notre Dame Wins

Travis Johnson of Notre Dame High set a school record in the shotput and teammates Mikhail Savary and Jon Williams had a hand in four victories as the Knights defeated Alemany, 111-16, in a Mission League boys’ track and field meet Tuesday at Notre Dame.

Johnson, defending Southern Section Division III champion, won the shot in 58-5 to break his school record of 58-2 3/4 set last year.

Savary won the 200 in 22.5, the 400 in 50.1, ran on the 400 relay that clocked a winning 43.7 and the 1,600 relay that won in 3:44.9 for the Knights (3-1, 3-1 in league meets).

Williams won the 110 high hurdles in 14.7, the 300 intermediates in 40.1 and ran on both relays.

BOYS’ TENNIS

Burbank 14, Hart 4--The Bulldogs won eight of nine singles sets and took sole possession of first place with the Foothill League victory at Burbank.

Tigran Martirosyan, playing at No. 1, did not lose a game in three singles sets and has not lost a game in 12 league matches.

Crespi 17, Chaminade 1--Stephen Amritraj swept at No. 1 singles for the Celts (11-2, 5-2), ranked No. 6 in the region by The Times, in a Mission League match at Crespi.
